Valentine’s Day, the day filled with a whole load of love whether you’re partnered off or a strong independent single. Whether you love or hate it, everyone’s got an opinion on the day. So, we asked over 9,000 of you to spill the beans on your dating dos, don’ts, loves and loathes to find out exactly what you think. And the results are in.

Today or not today?

When it came to whether you celebrate the big day of love on Valentine’s or another day, it was a close one. 57% of people said they prefer celebrating on an alternative day because restaurants are just too busy and expensive.

Enjoying a meal together gained the most votes for the perfect date. And it was closely followed by a night away. Plus, 75% of you said you preferred experiences over physical gifts. So, you’re in luck! You can do both on tastecard saving you a fair bit.

Table turn-offs

Unsurprisingly, being on your phone too much brought in a whopping 33% of the votes for biggest dinner-table turn-offs. Eating with your mouth full wasn’t far behind with 19% and flirting with the waiter gained 7%. Take note, daters!

Savvy spending

So, how much would you spend on that special someone? Well, our survey says £67 on average. Our results also show that men are the most generous when parting with their pennies for their Valentine, spending 29% more on average than women.

Music to our ears, a huge 94% of you would gladly use a discount on a date. And even more so if it means you can go out again with your savings. Plus, 89% of you also said that you find being savvy with money attractive. So, there you go. You really don’t have to splash the cash to make a good impression.

Flirty food

Known as the food of love, we weren’t surprised to see Italian voted as the most romantic cuisine. And French and Greek weren’t far behind. When it came to the sexiest foods to share with a partner, men opted for strawberries and cream and women went for chocolate fondue. You can thank us later for that tip.

Dream dates

When you were asked about your dream dinner party date, 1/5 of women chose Idris Elba, whilst Channing Tatum and Ant & Dec were close by in second and third. And Holly Willoughby just pipped Michelle Keegan and Meghan Markle to the post for men.

And couple goals? Well, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds stole first place with 19% of your votes, whilst Kate Middleton and Prince William were in second with 17%. And Victoria and David Beckham in third with 11%.

Go Dutch?

Now to the nitty gritty. Who’s paying? Over 47% of people said they’d split the bill. Although 81% of men still feel the man should pay on a first date.

And there you have it. Exactly how you all feel about the big V Day. Anyone else feeling the love?
