Where and what to eat on a vegetarian diet.

Tofu or not Tofu?

Bursting with iron, calcium, amino acids and more, there are loads of tofu benefits, making it a vegetarian’s secret weapon. Made from the curds of soy milk, it doesn’t sound all that appetising but trust us, it’s a great ingredient to pack out any veggie meal with. From tofu burgers to tofu salads, you’ll find it in just about any dish.

Try it at…

YO! in their Shiitake Mushroom Ramen. Fresh noodles, tofu, sautéed shiitake mushrooms & pak choi in a vegetable broth, topped with pickled onions.

tastecard offer: 2 for 1 plates, 5 days a week at YO!

Beyond Burger™

If you fancy getting stuck into a veggie burger, the Beyond Burger™ is the patty to choose. Completely vegan but with the look, texture and taste of a real beef patty, it’s packed with plant-proteins and a whole load of flavour. So it’s the perfect base for your favourite burger toppings.

Try it at…

Beefeater in their Vegan Sloppy Joe Burger. Vegan Beyond Burger patty topped with a vegan chilli made up of soya mince, mixed peppers, green lentils, tomato and chipotle chilli. All inside a toasted brioche alongside salad and vegan burger sauce.

tastecard offer: 2 for 1 meals, 7 days a week at Beefeater

Who’s jackfruit?

If you’re craving a meat substitute, jackfruit’s your man. With the stringy texture of pulled pork, pulled jackfruit is being used in vegetarian tacos and burgers. And it’s even made its way into some sweet dishes too like jellies and upside down cakes. Low in calories and a brilliant source of fibre, jackfruit’s one of the best meat-substitutes around. Still wondering “but what is jackfruit?”. Have more of a read here.

Try it at…

Pizza Hut Restaurants on their Vegan BBQ Jack ‘n’ Cheese Pizza. Violife Vegan Ch**se, BBQ jackfruit, sweetcorn, red onions, peppers, and a healthy drizzle of BBQ sauce.

tastecard offer: 2 for 1 meals, Sunday – Thursday at Pizza Hut Restaurants

Lentils and Beans

To keep your skin, muscles and hair healthy and strong (just the way you like them), getting enough protein in a veggie diet is key. So, lentils and beans like chickpeas, black beans and broad beans are a must. And they’re really flexible too, making the perfect meat substitute for curries, chilis and spag bol.

Try it at…

Zizzi in their Non-gluten Lentil Ragu. A classic, rich Italian lentil ragu with baby sunblush tomatoes, kale & fusilli pasta.

tastecard offer: 2 for 1 meals, Sunday – Thursday at Zizzi

Green vegetables

Without any red meat in your diet, it’s important to get your iron fix from somewhere else. Green vegetables like broccoli, Brussel sprouts and cabbage are ideal. And leafy greens like spinach, kale and chard are packed with the stuff too.

Try it at…

PizzaExpress in their Leggera Superfood Salad packed with kale, seasonal mixed leaves, rocket, cucumber, roasted peppers, grains, pulses, seeds and cranberries.

tastecard offer: 2 for 1 meals, Sunday – Thursday at PizzaExpress
