Cross a whole load of sushi with a bunch of chopstick-savvy waiters and what do you get? tastecard’s first ever pop-up restaurant, Hands Off!
Taking place every night between June 10th and 14th, tastecard hosted its first ever pop-up restaurant at Carousel Spaces in Marylebone, London, to raise money for our partner charity, Mary’s Meals.
A dining experience fit for foodies who like a side of laziness with their sushi, when we say that guests had to keep their hands to themselves, we mean it. Seriously. No touching food. No touching chopsticks. No finger-dipping in the soy sauce. Nothing, zilch, nada. So, all they had to do was sit back, relax and open wide whilst the steady-handed waiter over the table fed them. Not a bad deal.
Catered by Feng Sushi, the three-course menu fed to guests was made up of dishes like vegan mock duck pancakes; an array of seafood and veg-filled sushi rolls; and the classic Japanese rice-cake dessert, mochi. (And it was all delicious.)
With a guestlist made up of journalists, artists, influencers and foodies, everyone got in the spirit, including the waiters. And as well as die-hard sushi fans and mochi lovers, there were sashimi first-timers and wasabi-scepticals getting stuck into the grub on offer too. Alex Gardner from UNiDAYS told us “I’ve never had sushi before but the food was so good. I’ll definitely be trying it again.”
With 6,000+ restaurants on tastecard offering 50% off food or 2 for 1 meals, we can’t promise you’ll get the exact Hands Off! treatment when you dine out with us. But we’re all about hospitality, giving customers a cracking dining experience and lending a helping hand. And whether that’s helping you save money or getting fed, hospitality is hospitality, right?
